Epoxy Primer on Fiberglass

I am in the process of stripping the paint on a '65 Corvette. Once I have it stripped I am planning on using SPI epoxy. I am considering using epoxy primer for all my blocking in lieu of using 2k.

So just a couple of questions -

What grit should I scuff the fiberglass with prior to spraying the primer? I am hesitant to sand too much, I don't want to break through what appears to be a hard smooth surface and expose the fibers. I have been handsanding using 150 wet so far, would that be OK?

I will have to do, or re-do, some filling. So far it doesn't look like too thick. Based on a recommendation I am planning on using Evercoat #870, Vette Panel Adhesive/Filler for the body filler. I am thinking I would use this on the fiberglass under the epoxy. As I start blocking if I find I need to use it as a putty or glaze can I also put it on top of the epoxy primer?

Thank you for your help.

Your ideas will work, the glass can be sanded with an 80 on a DA or up to 180 with a DA and wet sanding with 150 will also work, just make sure you get plenty of dry time.

870 over the glass is great but any glaze must go over the epoxy to be safe long term.

Thank you for the response.

Can I use 870 for the "glaze" over the epoxy also if needed? Or if not, do you or anyone else have a good product recommendation for a glaze on a fiberglass bodied car?

If I have to put a glaze over the epoxy primer do I need to scuff it? 150 wet again OK?

No need to sand primer before using the glaze if done in 7 days.

I don't think the 870 will be a good glaze as it sands fairly hard and no you will not need to sand the epoxy first if done in 7 days.

upol dolphin glaze or evercoat metal glaze for the glaze product!! I prefer the dolphin glaze. Seems to sand better especially if left over night...whereas the evercoat can get a bit harder if left over night.

I'm not there yet but can I use any of these glazes on bare Fiberglass or 870 and then apply the epoxy primer?
