Epoxy Primer over Enamel Paint

I am having the hood of a car wet-blasted on the outside, not sure about blasting the underhood area and bracing - it is covered in a very good coat of enamel paint. I was wondering if I can scuff it and spray over the existing paint. I'd hate to take off this coat of paint and what is probably a good factory paint job (it's on a '66 GTO). Will there be any issues with compatability?

The epoxy over that should not be an issue if an activator was used in the enamel.

All you can do is take some partA of the epoxy and dab a spot and let set 5 minutes, if it don't lift you are good to go.
No need to activate as part A is the harshest part of the system.

Thanks for the Reply. I will be spraying the 6620 after prepping the surface and cleaning with the 700 W&G remover. Will test a small area, which will help make the decision on total paint removal on the underside of this hood.

I sprayed the hood, fenders, cowl, and nosepiece for my 66 GTO this weekend using the epoxy primer. Went down very nicely, and no problems with spraying over the enamel on the underside of the hood. Now I wish I had more material to keep going on the rest of the car. Time for reorder...

If it's factory paint on the underside of the hood chances are it's lacquer, all the G.M. cars I've worked from the 60's and early 70's have had soluable paints and primers-they would wash off with lacquer thinner.
