Epoxy Primer Question

Hi, Ive been lurking on here off and on for about a year and am finally getting to the point of spraying something. I have a 4 door s10 that is in need of some paint repair on the rockers below the door and both bumpers need resprayed. My plan was to sand everything down to metal and use just epoxy primer, probably 2 coats and a 3rd reduced as a sealer and that would be it for primer. After that likely use Omni color matched to the vehicle and then SPI universal clear.

Would using just the epoxy be ok? I would assume so but I am new at this so I want to make sure. Trying to make this as economical as possible while still trying to learn for an upcoming restoration I have planned.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Bob.

After looking at the truck more I am leaning toward enlarging my repair, mainly to get rid of the road rash on the lower side of the doors and to get to a better seam. My question is do I need to sand everything down to bare metal or if I have a solid factory base can I scuff good and go from there where the existing paint is solid? Where down to bare metal use the epoxy, and just seal the entire area after everything is prepped?
