I'm getting ready to paint my MGB. The hood, trunk lid, and doors have been removed. All parts have been sanded down to bare metal. My basecoat is metalflake so to avoid flip-flop effect I plan on spraying the underside of the hood and trunk lids and the inside faces of the doors before the other parts. For the areas mentioned above, I plan on applying only Epoxy Primer, Basecoat, and Clearcoat (no 2K Primer).
Question: Do I need to spray a coat of Epoxy Primer Sealer after the last Epoxy Primer coat and before the first Basecoat or can I spray the basecoat on the last epoxy primer coat?
When I paint all the other exterior surfaces I plan on spraying:
3 coats Epoxy Primer (6610)
3 coats 2K Primer (6520-1)
1 coat Epoxy Primer Sealer
3 coats Base (Deltron 2000 DBC Metal flake)
4-5 coats Clear (4000-4)
Another question. I plan on mixing the Epoxy Primer Sealer by mixing 1 part Epoxy Primer to 1 part Epoxy Activator. Then I will add 3 ounces of my basecoat's reducer to 1 quart of the 1:1 mix. For clarification, that would mean that I would have 35 ounces of Epoxy Primer Sealer.
Does that sound OK to you guys.
