Glass Reinforced Filler

I read that glass reinforced fillers should go directly on bare metal and not on the epoxy. I have a couple of very small pin holes in an area that would be a problem to weld and was planning on using a product like Tiger Hair to fill them. Am I correct that this should go on bare metal?

It can, and often does, but over epoxy will give better adhesion and corrosion protection.

If it is possible, I would seal the backside of the pin holes with something. Seam sealer might work.
Water coming in under the filler will be a problem down the road, IMHO.

If it really is just pin holes, and the metal is solid and rust free, you can dab the holes in bright clean metal with epoxy. Keep it up over a couple days until they are gone.
