how does this sound for prepping?

My buddy has a 2002 jetta that we're going to shoot.
the old paint and body are fine it just has a lot of scratches. Should we go over the whole car with what 180? on the da just to give it some tooth?
and then spray on 3 coats of 2 k regular build. How does that sound?
this doesn't have the last 20 years.
This will be the first car I have painted it doesn't have a bunch of rest and body damage. Lol
 
Personally, I would want to know if I have any dents and dings to deal with from the start. I would hand block the car as/is with 180. Nothing will show you what you have to deal with like the shine of your old paint.
