Infamous Chevrolet peel

Chevynutz

Slow old timer
I have a 2008 duramax that has a couple of spots that are peeling and looking for suggestions on how to spot repair. The color code is BC/CC U 8624 olympic white. Is this repair possible with epoxy only and blend with single single ? Not wanting to clear the whole hood and tailgate for a couple of spots. Total rookie here and have never blended anything but need to give this a try. TIA Greg

If you don't want to strip it, do what Don says. It will continue to fail, though, so you'll have to repeat the treatment in the future.

I remember the last peeler we did, every place we tried to stop, the masking tape would pull the paint off the next panel! It got out of hand.

Yeah I have to agree. Just dab it with some touch up paint to help take your eye off it or strip it and fix it right. Anything in between you’ll just be chasing your tail.

I have a Chevy van that has peel on every panel. When it rains the peel grows, all it takes is a nick in the paint and water will get between primer and the delaminating paint.
I think the panel needs to be stripped of paint myself, I was thinking to scuff the factory primer and shoot some epoxy to see what happens, it sure can't make it worse.
