Injection Molded Fiberglass?

Arrowhead

So my buddy bought this new repop 442 hood for the '69 cutlass I'm doing body and paint on. They say it's injection molded fiberglass. It is a nice piece and the fiberglass is smooth on both sides. It came boxed very well but one corner has a small crack though that I need to fix. The say use any fiberglass resin to repair so that's fine. But I just never heard of injection molded fiberglass. It doesn't even give off that fiberglass smell. What is injection molded fiberglass or is there really such a thing?

It's far more likely to be something like SMC if the bottom is smooth, yet there are many visible fibers in the damaged area.

yes the injection molded stuff is quite common. most good vette replacement panels are made like that not to mention many other things. i just replaced a front d/s corner on a 66 vette the other day. that piece was all injection molded. they dont use smc resin or anything like that. you can use regular polyester resin or epoxy like west system. i just use west system for everything anymore.
