Inline Airtool Oiler questions

I'm installing an air compressor in my garage. It is a 24X12, and I will be installing single drop opposite from the compressor to reduce air heat as much as possible.

At the bottom of the drop I'm considering putting in an automatic oiler to extend the life of my grinders and other air tools. I would have this on a separate section from the air dryer for my painting hose, so I'd have a hose for air tools and a hose for painting.

Do any of you guys use automatic oilers?

Do you like them?

Do they ever cause problem with contaminating a painting surface?

I will still be cleaning my surface prior to painting and such, but I didn't know if it cause airborne oil problems.

I stay away from automatic oilers, always have in a bodyshop environment. Even oiling tools manually I am careful to try to run any excess out of the tool before it gets used on the car. Automatic oiler=automatic contamination dispenser IMO. Some of my air tools are really old, they get a couple of drops of oil only once in a great while and they keep going.

Tried an inline type oiler years ago on a separate line in my fabrication side of the shop. I think the reason I removed it was that I didn't trust it was doing a good job of lubricating my air tools. I manually lube them when they get put away in the tool box, that way they are protected from rust from any moisture they may have despite the separator and are ready to work next time out. If I'm running a tool long and hard I add some oil in between.
