Interesting test of Epoxy

One of the chemical company's came out with a new additive, so for some time I have been testing with the epoxy and 2K primers, it proved to do what they said.
So in short I made up six blind test panels and coded them and sent off to a lab, for UN-biased testing to prove, me right or wrong on my test results.

I made one mistake, I did not make sure each sample had the exact same amount of mils (for the epoxy) and although we knew the epoxy gained strength and corrosion protection with mils (unlike most products) the results of the test proved that three coats of epoxy is way superior to two coats in all the tests.
OH; reason two panels had three coats is because I wanted to hide some dust, so the lab would not think I was a hack. LOL

Long story short, we are now adding the new additive to the epoxy and all 2K primers, you will not see any difference but the corrosion protection will be way up.
The 6520 was done Monday and is our first batch using this product.

In short, the new tech sheet will recommend three coats of epoxy for all critical areas, such as frames and anywhere else there is an extreme exposure.

And I didn't think there was any way left to improve that product!

Barry, for a southern, non daily driver car would it be worth it for me to buy the new epoxy for the underside (floor pans, etc) and engine bay? I haven't stripped and primed that area yet. But I do have an unused gallon of the "old" stuff :)

Barry, are saying the corrosion resistance will be up because of the new additive, and it will be up ever more with three coats instead of two?

No, we are getting into overkill area here! Just do three coats of the old stuff.
Oh, by the way two coats are still great but three for fun!

Awesome, thank you!
