Should I buy 2500?

I am thinking of going 800 1500 2000 then 3000 then buffing.

What about 1200?

Thanks in advance! Pics of my first complete will be up soon!!!

I have gone from 800 to 1500 before and because you are going to 3000, I would not worry about the 1200.

Yep what he said.. I often will sand a run with 320, then once its gone switch to 1000 wet.. then 2000 then 3000..
Some believe you have to use every single grit along the way.. Its simply a matter of choice..

even though i love my flex buffer i don't like the seating arrangement on it so i sand. old wise Indian once told me if i didn't need it they wouldn't make it. so i don't skip a grit. but i am also a dinosaur . i learned to use slow speed and a good cutting compound often called river mud. not like today's that require a lot of speed and heat. to me each grit will knock out the one below fast so i work less.

Maybe it depends on the kind of paper, too. The Norton 800 we use seems pretty aggressive, so we use 1200 after it, but are able to go to 2000 after that, leaving out the 1500. We don't even have 1500.
