Low VOC mixing bank solvent borne

I'm looking forward to getting a mixing bank in my shop. It would give me the security that I wont run out of paint after business hours, and I will be able to mix accurate amounts of paint, limiting waste. I also will be able to adjust colors accordingly.

Being a fan of PPG, as of today their only option available is the updated Omni Plus. I used it since a while, and so far its okay. Some colours don't cover, and some don't match good.

I wanted to have some input, if you guys have tried something that works good.

Very important, I am in Canada, and it has to be low voc.

Matrix has a low VOC as well, but it is more expensive than Omni and I have heard mixed opinions on color match. It sure lays down nicer than OMNI and at least with SPI clearcoats it seems to have better hold out. The jobs I've seen on top of Matrix always looks glossier and with better depth, and I'm not sure is due to spraying technique or longer flash times either.

I could be wrong but OMNI seems slow to dry and it has lead to die-back issues with the 2100-1 Production clear.

There's the Transtar NO MIX as well, I have no idea about pricing on it. I only supply the EURO 5100-1 to a shop that uses the NO MIX and they are happy with the performance.

You could also look at Axalta's MOSAIC system, I have heard good things about it. But I hate basecoat systems that force you to use a 'dedicated' base maker instead of just a regular high quality reducer. A gallon of their slow basemaker runs around $170.00 this part of Canada, mind you the basecoat uses a reduction ratio of 200% !!! , so that kinda drops the price. I'm curious what kind of hiding it has on translucent' reds and blues.

A paint rep from Axalta comes to my shop once in a while, he tries to convince me to switch. He brought me a sample of Mosaic, it was a silver color, he also sells the NO MIX, which he brought a sample as well. Both were the same color code for a car I had to do. Before using on the car I sprayed some test cards with each, The mosaic didn't cover, with all the paint I used to do the test card, there was no way I was going to be able to do the job with, Transtar on the other hand covered OK, and matched better than the mosaic. I had high expectations with the mosaic, the way he was talking about it. At first I thought it was a replacement for Nason, which its not.

There is a supplier in my area with the Moto Base from automotive art, tried it, I find it's almost the same as the Omni. I just don't like that supplier, he sells that brand of basecoat, but doesn't carry anything more than that from them, not even the reducer. I get the Omni plus, cheaper than the art.

Wasn't a big deal, maybe 10-15 a quart. The omni paint has 3 or 4 price groups, compared to the envirobase that has much more, I paid 220 tax in for 24 ounces for a red last week
