Lubricating Gun?

Being a mechanic I lube just about everything that requires it. Never lubed a paint gun for fear of contaminating the paint.
I bought an Iwata LPH 400 that came with a tube of lube. Nothing mentioned in the instructions about lubing the gun anywhere.
So what's the deal on lube for a gun? Does it need lube somewhere or should I throw the tube away?
 
I use the lube that comes with the Iwata's, I put it on the threads on the gun and also put a drop on the needle.
Don't get carried away but I've never had a issue with it.
 
after it is together pull the trigger back and put a little lube on the exposed needle. threads on the adjustment knobs also like chad suggested. once you rinse some reducer through it you are good to go .
