hello gents. i have a miller 35 old machine not "white face" i bought it used 15 years ago i use it very little. at one time it was feeding wire sporadically. the feed motor seemed to have a "dead spot" it would feed then quit then feed then quit. i took motor out looked at it put it back i took guns in had new liners installed bought new rollers for drive unit. it worked beautifully for a while. then it started "sometimes not feeding wire" any ideas? is it junk is the drive motor rebuildable? repairable fixable? here is a pic of the machine. i was told the drive motor is "no longer available but the power window motor from a 65 chevy wagon will work" thanks in advance

in case anyone wonders.... i found wiring diagram.. foloowed it through. tested each device i wasnt getting voltage to motor. when i fed it voltage it worked. long story short. i fixed it it was the variable resistor was varying between one ohm and meg ohms... not 1 ohm to 1.5 ohms... i cleaned the coil and contact on variable resistor now it works... maybe good for another 5 years.

I actually just had this trouble. I have a Hobart 175, its bigger, still made with Miller parts. Anyway, I actually had a kink happening in the wire on the roll. There was still at least half a roll left, but as it started unrolling there was a stop, then a kink, made it thru the liner, fed better, then kinked again. I started unwinding the roll so the feed rolls were just pulling it without having to unroll the wire and it fed, but as soon as it caught up all the slack it started doing the same thing.

I just changed the roll to USA weld roll and its been feeding perfectly. Nothing was wrong with the machine.
