Mixing lids

I read an old thread that discussed optional lids for gallon size paints. I tried to open some of the links to options but none of them would open. Im trying to find out what one of these lids looks like. Sounds like its easier to pour out of when the gallon paint can is full. Thanks!

Home depot has an orange ring that snaps in the top of the can, helps with pouring and mixing a full gallon theyre a couple bucks a piece I try and keep a few on hand and just pitch them when too much crap builds up on them.

I only use mix lids on my 2k (I use a gallon every 2-3 weeks at the longest) they are called mix mates and sold by rockler, but like shine I wouldn't recommend them for strictly a hobby, I'd be afraid of losing solvents.

I have used those orange snap lids from HD on house paint. Actually works pretty well. I agree on the rockler mixers...not enough paint consumption here. I was thinking the lids Mitch referred to in a previous post might be just a plastic replacement lid with a little screw on cap to pour paint.

Shine punches a hole in his lid and when he's done wipes it off and tapes over it.

i've done this for many years. lids.jpg

yes , i put a piece of 2 in tape over the large screw . that way the rim and edges dont get nasty. pour , wipe off and remove the tape. this way i dont have to punch holes in the edge for drain back. i think solvents escape that way .

Shine, how does putting a piece of 2" tape over the large screw help keep the edges and rim clean? Im not getting it.
