Hello guys i been doing alot of reading on here and decide to attempt to paint my own car.So i have sanded my whole car down with p180 grit sandpaper then sprayed 2 coats of spi epoxy. The next day i sprayed 3 coats of spi high build primer. Now im a little confused on what grit sand paper do i used to start blocking. And what additional steps i need to take to have the car ready for paint?

The steps and how many times those steps are repeated depend greatly upon the condition of the vehicle. With 2 coats of epoxy and 3 coats of high build, you have a good bit of material on the car. Did you block sand the car with 180 using a long board or did you just sand it to scuff it up? What color epoxy and high build did you use? It would be helpful if you used different colors becasue this will let you know when to stop sanding. Regardless of how straight you think the body work is right now, I would use a guide coat to point out your low spots and sand with 180 until I hit epoxy. If your guidecoat is pretty much gone at this point, you know you're work is straight, and it is just a matter of stepping through the grits to refine the scratches from there. If you have trouble sanding off your guide coat in some areas, without sanding through in ohters, you will need to repeat the process or use filler, depending how bad those areas are.

Remember to use an "X" pattern when blocking and only push with enough pressure to hold the block against the car without flexing the panels. Don't increase your sanding grit until the guidecoat is sanding off evenly.

I use a da wit 180 grit.then sprayed black epoxy and gray high build over that.so after i block sand with 180 grit what do i do next reguide coat and change grit?

After blocking with 180 if there's still enough primer surfacer on the car you can apply more guidecoat and reblock with 320 or 400-to remove all of the 180 scratches and achieve a flatter surface, after that seal and paint. If you have panels with numerous issues a reprime and reblock with 180 might be necessary, for panels with only minor issues you might need to spot prime these areas.

hey guys i finally got the car painted overall i think it came out great.i did have a few problems were i think i put the base on to wet.thanks for all the help

Thanks guys. But how can I fix the pass. quarter panel above the wheel where the paint is a lot darker

The quarter will need to be repainted, the color needs to be applied consistently and the clear can be blended in the sail panel or just clear over the roof and down the other quarter.

no, just sand the panel with 600 or 800 or scuff it with a grey scotchbrite. Read up on doing a clear blend before you attempt this. Two light coats of base over that dark area is all you should need.
