Need filters for exhaust fan

My neighbor just put up a new building right beside mine. He and I got to talking and somehow overspray on his garage became the topic of discussion. All I need is a pissed off neighbor to shut my painting operation down. and I just want to do the right thing and keep his building from looking tie dyed. He spent a pretty penny, makes my shop look like a closet.

anyway here is a pic of the fan. how would you guys filter solids out of the exhaust air. it measures 37 x 37 inches
thanks James

duct it upwards is the correct way but it draws attention. 20x20 is the standard size. you will have to buy the filter material in a roll.

You could make a frame that would fit 4 common 20'x20' exhaust filters. Any jobber should have that size .

He knew what you were doing and still put up a building next to yours? To bad for him... JK. I agree with Shine and you might want to also look into charcoal filters for the smell just in-case.

I am a business. I bought 20x20 from Grainger, paid almost 200 for 24. Ebay has a place that sells them for 91 for the same box and they ship direct from Grainger. I have also purchased a roll though from McMaster Carr, its a thick blue material, very rigid, you could screw it up with some big fender washers outside the fan frame. http://www.mcmaster.com/#2069k29/=101u2tm This will literally stand up on its own.

I put it in front of my powdercoat booth, which is one that uses filters on the exhaust and keeps the air inside the building. Its like a big dust catcher. I use it if I want to spray something after I just installed new filters.

I talked to a guy from air filters usa and bought a roll of paint arrester pad and I am going to put it in front of my fan. we talked for a while and he said that this is what a lot of guys do

I built a frame around mine. I wish I would have made it to take the 20x20 filters. I purchased a roll and cut it to fit. I don't get any paint on the siding. Since its a smaller area I change it often. Someday I may make it larger.

standing outside in winter with a water hose ..........................:(

guess it depends on where you live. also depends on the filter material. if it is the furnace type filter it wont last long or rinse well . i buy the 20x20 exhaust filters and rinse one time .
