Need technical advice before I spray uv clear.

First, the tech sheet says to use a 1.4 tip. I have 1.3 and 1.5. Which would be better for me to use?

I'm unsure what activator to get. The perfect paint job says it's best to use the slowest activator you can get away with. It's Hard to say for certain but I think my booth temperature will be right at 70* and I'm a full blown first timer. So whatever will help me out the most in that regard.

Would reducer /retarder be helpful for a first timer? My fear is that my newness will lead to panels that have both dry spots and runs within a couple feet of each other... I need whatever I can get in order to get the best results possible right out of the gun. Thank you!

If you can afford it you really should spray it with a 1.4. I have no idea what gun you are using but with most quality guns you can buy a nozzle/needle set and simply swap out the 1.3 or 1.5 for the 1.4.

As for your activator question when in doubt use a slow activator, especially if you are confident that you'll be spraying in 70 degree temps. Same thing for your reducer. A slower reducer will help your base layout better, and allow you to spray lighter coats which helps with metallic laying down correctly.

I'm using a set of new devillbiss starting line guns. Think any of the other devillbiss tips would fit it?

1.5 won't break it up enough. I'd say use the 1.3 and the extra slow and maybe a little lower pressure to help wet it up a bit. It all depends on your conditions. Call Mr. Kives.
