New Sata minijet 4, air micrometer?

I just recently picked up a used Sata minijet4 for my mustang project. This is my first "mini" HVLP and I have a couple questions. I spent last night cleaning the gun and checking things out. I shot some reducer thru it and was playing with patterns to see how she shot. Seems good (but I have not shot any primer, base or clear with it yet. There is a small adjustment called the "air micrometer" on the back under the fluid control... I played with it a little but not sure what it did.... anyone familiar with these guns?

Also when spraying with a mini HVLP do you still follow the rule or 8" from the panel ? Not sure if that would change with a smaller gun. Thanks!

the air mic is just the air valve like on any gun. you leave it wide open and usually put a gauge on the gun with the adjusting valve on it.

I guess I didn't think of that being in a different spot, my FLG3 doesn't have an adjustable air valve so im just used to the regulator doing that. Should It still be shot from roughly 8" away? How big should the "cigar" be roughly?
