Nu-Metal

Has anyone used a product called Nu-Metal? It was suggested to me by a powder coater I want to use to powder coat a windshield frame
with the material that looks like chrome. The frame is badly corroded and pitted and needs to be filled. It mixes like body filler but is supposed to withstand the baking process of powder coat. Any tips or advise appreciated.

Thanks,

hmmm, not nu metal but there is a filler called lab-metal. its been around for years. i know alot of powdercoaters use that stuff. also a little mostly unknown bit of info.....the 3m platinum plus body filler can be used under powdercoat. its the only standard bodyfiller that will hold up under a bake at 450 and also not outgas and cause issues.

My nu-metal comes in sheet form ;)

the guy who does powder coat here is not really fond of any of it. but he did say to cure it to at least 450 so it would be stable. just hoping i dont find the need for it.

Thanks. It is unfortunate that I must resort to this but no one makes reproduction windshield frames for a 37' Ford that I'm aware of. I want to keep the opening function and like the chrome look better than body color. It acts a lot like body filler and seems to finish and sand well.

Thanks,
