Hello,
I found this forum some time ago and stop by periodically, I’ve learned quite a bit from everyone here. I am also very impressed by the level of professionalism I’ve seen here compared to many other paint and body work sites.
I’m working on a little 86 Plymouth Reliant K car project and will be beginning the body and paint part of the project now that the mechanical issues are mainly squared away. I haven’t done any automotive painting in over 25 years and my, has the technology changed! I have also been impressed during my research on all the very positive comments on SPI products, so I will be using them. So, to my first question- I know spray gun technology has changed but since I am only doing this one project car I was wondering if I can use my old siphon gun, Binks Model 18, as a primer gun for epoxy and 2K primers? It has the equivalent of a 1.8 mm fluid tip and needle in it. I know it’s not the optimum gun to use in terms of material waste and a cloud of overspray. But it was a decent gun in its day and would it still perform better than a lower cost modern gun?
Thank you for your help and comments.
