Paint Respirator

What do you guys reccomend for the minmum protection for painting a car in my small shop at home. I haven't painted since the 80's when we used paper masks and shot cars with Centari, but I know some of these new paints and the epoxy primers aren't the best to be breathing and probably worse than Centari. Also I wear glasses so thats an issue back then I used to clean my glasses with thinners as needed, which was probably wonderful for my eyes. So a mask with eye protection, a hood, do I need fresh air etc etc.??

Geez that looks like it would do the job, how do you clean the shield, and how do you know when to change the filters ? I'm guessing as long as you have a really good fan, you should be ok without the fresh air ?

I use a 3m mask from my paint jobber. It comes in a resealable plastic bag about $30. That will do just fine unless you go heavy commercial use.

No, but if you want the one with eye protection you can look into this one. I have this one at home with extra filters that was given to me from one of our jobbers. I just use the open face respirator in the paint booth at work. We don't use SPI at my work, I do use SPI at home but my fan has infinite variable speed and can pull hard when I spray harsh material and any cloud and fumes are not a problem.
