Painting of different days question.

P

Penhook

I have had to take the doors, hood , trunk and all kind of parts off my car to strip the lacquer off for a bc cc paint job. I have limited space in my garage so I am thinking about painting the some of the parts like the doors , trunk, hood and then in the next few days get the car painted.. If the weather changes will I get a color change using bc cc. Enamel has changed shades on me if I paint and the weather has changed over a couple days.. Thanks for any information you may give me. It will be great if the bc cc will not change on me if I do it this way.

Metallic or solid color? If it's metallic you need to pay more attention to the orientation of the panel on the vehicle. Don't lay doors and fenders flat as it will affect the "lay" of the mica in that you'll see a difference in the paint as soon as the parts are bolted up. Any fixtures for holding separate body panels should hold them just as if they were bolted on the car.. Example:

Our Saturday progress had us making more painting fixtures, this time for the rear gates. The lift gate used some square tube and riv-nuts for attachment...

Fixture was made to hold lift gate in same position as on car for spraying...

Then a bit of scuffing to get ready for the next coat of epoxy....

I plan on using SPI dark red when I paint it. Looking at your photos helps me with ideas about how I may be able to fix a stand for the doors and maybe be able to get more painted on the same day. I would not think the solid color would change too much but I have not tried painting over a few days with bc cc before. Thanks for the photos again, gives me a idea how to hang doors and maybe move them around for painting.

Door fixture, note ballast used to prevent things from toppling with only one part attached.... (or when first one is removed ;) )

Took delivery on the ballast material today for the door paint stand. Without this it didn't care for the one door added at a time, and wanted to do a nose dive. This should work well!
