Phix corrosion treatment and epoxy

If I cleaned bare metal with phix would I need to neutralize it before applying epoxy? Sand it? Is phix a good product?

absolutely NOT. it says right there it coats the metal with zinc or whatever else. if you paint on it your primer obviously wont be stuck to metal at all. it will be stuck to some zinc coating or whatever. i can pretty much guarantee a failure. you can use the stuff but it must be completely washed off with water and the preferably the surface sanded before you put any primer on it. its just another acid treatment like all the rest and must be used properly and with caution.

I understood Phix is acid free. But I also understand it must be removed before applying SPI Epxoy. If in fact it is acid free, would it be a better alternative to using acid products? I also understand it is strongly advised not to use acid etch products prior to SPI Epoxy.

I would say SPI is the good product and is all you will need no treatments under the epoxy.
