Pinstriping with ! Shot enamel

I am planning on pinstriping my Model a Ford. The car has been painted and clearcoated with 3 coats of universal clear. I plan on wet sanding the clear, applying the pinstripe enamel and then spray 3 coats of clear after the pinstripe has dried for several days.

Is it necessary to use a hardener in the 1 Shot enamel? Will the Universal clear disturb the 1 shot enamel if applied without a hardener?

Thanks 013.jpg

Use a hardener for sure. If you get a run on top of your pinstripe you could very well drag the pin striping down with it. Play it safe and activate it.

Pinstripe over the clear

Would I be better off pinstriping after all the clearcoating, compounding and polishing is finished?

on a car that old i think it may look better on top of the clear. but thats just preference

All the letter was done with 1 shot enamel without hardener and cleared the next day after Barry telling me it was OK this was done 6 years ago and still no problems.

Barry told me the same procedure 6 months ago !

Over the years 100's of people have used the one shot and cleared and best I can remember had only one problem in all those years and that problem was when they used the one shot and cleared the same day and it wrinkled.

Our standard advice have been all these years, use the one shot and clear the next day and within 48 hours, unactivated is how 99.9% of these guys do it but activating would not hurt a bit and may help and I underline MAY in this case.
