Is this a pretty deep black base coat? I am doing a grand national next month. I have always sprayed Dupont or Diamont basecoats. I've read good things about Pro-Spray and I would like to try them out if the price is right.

What are your thoughts on their Jet black?

I used it on my 34. This is right out of the gun. IMG_3148.jpg

I used black primer the whole way though and black sealer. It looked like it covered in one coat, but I sprayed two coats to be sure.

In the picture, it is Prospray Base with 3 coats of UV on top. I decided to block the whole thing with 400 and put on 2 more coats of UV. I could see some thane wave on the flat areas, especially.

Not that anyone should take my advice on gun settings, but this is what I used.

IWATA LPH-400

Fluid: 2.5 off the seat

Fan: Wide open and back 1/4

Pressure: 25-27

5-6 Inches from the panel

I gotta get off my ass and order my silver cap and 1.4 nozzle for my lph. Maybe today I will!

Same for the base and clear?
The reason I ask is that I like to keep a record of different people's gun settings so I can compare them and look for similarities.
For instance, the 25-27 psi range for SS when using the LPH400 LV4 seems to be fairly common among painters.

For base

2 Turns on the fluid

24-25 PSI

I think it was you that told me about using more pressure for sealer. If so, you are exactly right...I hate getting runs in my sealer.

For Sealer

27-28 PSI

1 1/2 turns on the fluid

I shot some pro spray single stage with my cheap grizzly gun last week. I think it turned out great.

Nice to see some pics of this black, I have had a lot of people order it but I still have yet to use this color.

The person who mixed mine said she had never mixed single stage before. I thought that was interesting

the bc-452 is their factory pack basecoat, not single stage, but if he never mixed single stage on the bank before i'd be scared the binders would still be good, I'm always mixing single stage.

Made me nervous too, but I didn't really have a choice unless I wanted to go to Sherwin Williams, which I didn't

i have a request for the blackest black. this looks like a contender!
