ProSpray activator and paint amounts

Hi. Trying to get a list together of quantities before I place an order for some SPI. Want to buy as much as possible from SPI in one order. I know I cant get the bc I need but I'd like to know if I can substitute SPI reducers and activators for the bc.

I'm most likely going with ProSpray bc. It will be a bright blue metallic and argent silver for stripes. Both GM colors.

Can I just order bc and use SPI activator and reducers? If so, which activator? And what quantity or will a gallon be enough for everything.

How much Blue paint would I need for a complete on a 73 chevelle hardtop, no vinyl? And how much "extra" should I order?

The silver will just be for the stripes on the bottom of the doors and over the wheel wells. Will a quart mixed, do the both sides of the car?

Pro Spray tech sheet for 3.5 VOC (if thats the right one) says 4 parts bc, 2 parts thinner and 1 part activator. I thought I read on this board that you add a capful of activator. 1 part would be quite a bit more.

Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Chad in Michigan provided me my Viper Blue ProSpray I used SPI for everything else. I sprayed the car with a couple coats of epoxy, then 2k and then reduced epoxy for a seal coat before bc. I used SPI reducers. I did my 34 chevy a few years ago and the mix for my bc was 1:1. PM Chad for his expertise.

If you get a gallon of Pro Spray base it will mix 1:1 with SPI reducer and yes you can use SPI clear coat activator. The gallon will be enough to shoot 3 coats on that car and leave you with some for touch ups. I would be sure to have a consistent color under the base coat.

Ok, so 1:1. Bc to reducer but how much activator? Ive seen 1 capful but tech sheet says 1 part. So a gallon of paint is giving me at least 2 gal. Of sprayable. Can I use spi activator and if so, which one. Thanks guys.

1oz activator per sprayable qt
Use tge same activator as the clear that you are using

I confess that I don't accurately measure activator since many times I am mixing up less than a quart. I use the 1 oz per quart as a standard then guesstimate accordingly. LOL

Barry told me one capfull off the activator can per 1/4 sprayable mixture close enough
