Question before I spray color

Looks great!!! Oh and nice Scag. I gotta try and upgrade this winter. Mines old enough to drink this year.

Scag builds a solid mower, good components. I think most of the commercial mowers out there are good. IMHO, the key components to look for are spindles and drive hydros. Obviously a welded deck over a stamped deck for durability. Everyone has there favorite engine being either Kohler, Kawasaki, or Briggs & Stratton. I've had good luck with Kohler engines. Kohler leads the way for EFI engines, way before the other manufacture got into the EFI game. I believe Kohler hit a home run with their EFI tuned intake series engines.

I have this Kohler model on my scag. I wanted this engine because of the "tuned" efi intake.

Monday afternoon question.

I started wet sanding (800 grit) the panels that have been cleared. Will be spraying another coat of clear as a final application.

My question is...... There are some areas ( mounting flanges and light cavity) that I can see some shinny clear that I can't sand for fear of breaking thru to base, or worse, metal.

Can I spray clear over those shiny spots. As a matter of will a fresh coat of clear over none sanded clear bite into the freshly sparyed cleared that is two days old?

Thank you

Can you get in there lightly with a grey scuff pad and just knock the shine off?

It's a possibility, worth trying. I'll run into town to my local jobber and pick some Grey scuff pads tomorrow.

What about painting more clear over two day old clear without scuffing.

Will the new clear bite into the 2 day old clear?

Don't see anyone who knows what they are talking about weighing in . . .
I have no idea, and that is why I err on the side of caution.
And, what in the world are you thinking, doing high end body/paint without a box of scuff pads on hand?
Yeah, go set some :D Grab some red ones too while you're at it.

I'm not doing high end body and paint work, I'm doing....... just barely getting by doing body and paint work. I'll leave the high end stuff to the pro's.

I have a box of Maroon Scotchbrite. It was my understanding Maroon was a 320 scratch.

Grey was a 800 scratch?

Grey was a 800 scratch?
I think that is correct. Grey works for the clear situation.
I just like to have both on hand. Come in handy in many situations. And, I was bustin your chops a bit

Is that piece of garnish ever going to withstand a bug or car wash? My gosh dude don't stress over everything.

So by your reply that you didn't directly answer, you're saying it's okay to spray over 2 day old un-sanded clear coat with a fresh coat of clear and there are no Con's doing so?

Is that what you're saying ???

I'm not saying anything except ,,,,,Chill a bit and try to enjoy your project without trying to start a panic over each step.

I can agree with that!

For a moment there I thought for sure you were going to ask me if I hate my mother.
