Raptor Liner and Motobase

Hello all, so my truck is pretty much done (paint wise) and I’m looking to tint Raptor and spray the bedliner. I know the process of mixing it all, just looking to see if others have used Motobase to tint the Raptor.

I know they say not to use Binders in the paint for tinting the Raptor but Chad said that’s how it’s mixed to get the color.

And then also if you have used Motobase do you mix up the paint 1:1 then add 10% of that to the Raptor or just the paint itself?

Thanks in Advance!

binders or no binders, doesnt matter. mix about 4 oz of unreduced paint into the jug of raptor , and the hardener. drop an old nut in the jug and shake it up good and its ready to spray. if u want to reduce it for less texture u will have to pour it into a bigger container and do that, then pour it back into the jug. the jug is barely big enough for the raptor, paint, and hardener.

Ok thanks for the info.
I was planning to dump all 4 into a large mixing cup add color to that and mix it all up to get a uniform color.
Just wasn’t sure if i needed the reducer or not for the Motobase mixture.

Thanks again

Mixing all together is fine, just don't activate it all at once. No reducer needed, but adding 10% will smooth it out some if that's what you are going for.

Not trying to smooth is our really. Just wants sure if the base needed the 1:1 to mix it in or just the color itself. I’m ok with some texture

I've always done it unreduced, worked fine. Either way, it will be slightly milkier then the color your going for. It's just the nature of the product.

Yeah I figured it wouldn’t be perfect but going for close I guess. Says you can mix in up to 10% of color, so if I mix it all together I can see what it looks like and add the hardener per container

You can, but I would only activate each quart just before spraying, just in case something goes wrong and delays spraying it all in one session.

You can actually vary the texture of Raptor A LOT without reducing, if you have a quality Shultz type gun with adjustability.
I got the one from Raptor and it worked great (unlike the piece of crap that came from TCP Global when I bought my initial kit.)
I went totally OCD on this and recorded a video of how different settings affect the texture.
That part of the video starts at about 24 minutes, if anyone is interested.

i used to do this until i tried dropping an old nut in the jug and shake it like a rattle can. since then ive never went back to mixing in a large container. much much less mess. try it.

I think I might give this a shot and then just add the same amount of paint to each bottle. Seems like a great idea. Thank you

I’ll check out the video. I do have a gun that came with the first Raptor kit I bought. Thanks
