Hello all,
Just a quick question. I've seen quite a few references to using red Scotch Brite pads for surface prep. Are they referring to the 3M part#07447 6"x9" pads?

Thanks!

Maroon would be a better color description, I buy the rolls both maroon and grey

I have seen the red, er maroon scotchbrite pads that are configured as 6" hook-it discs. Haven't used one but they look like they might be great for the flat surfaces.

I found the scoth-brite pads to stick well enough to hook-it backing pads by themselves without anything special, just cut them to approximately the right size. Great for scuffing epoxy primer on flat surfaces.

Thanks for the chart 68, I have not seen this info in years and I state approximate grits range, almost everyday on the phone, looks like I was off 100 points on the gray.

TY for the chart 68 was looking around for mine the other day and no luck.

Figured I'd bump this instead of starting a new one. Has anyone tried the norton pads out? I need to re stock and noticed them on the shelves lately.

I'm about half way through a box of the Norton maroon pads. I didn't notice any difference between them and the 3M ones

i know this is an old thread, but i am curius as to what back up disc' to use with the 3-M, 6 in scotch brite pads, mine fly off on me. I am using the 3-M #s 05756, and 05776, on a DA sander at moderate speeds. thanks
