Reduce UV clear for really hot temp?

D

dmight

I'm a novice - about to shoot my second overall.

I sprayed some practice pieces and some small, detached pieces yesterday with prospray base and UV. I'm using a Devilbiss Tekna quick-clean gun powerd by an 18.5cfm 60 gal compressor.

Some of the clear came out good, some had some orange peel, a few pieces had lots of peel.

I know technique and experience is my biggest problem.

However, since it is near 100 degress ambient (spraying in my garage) would reducing the clear be of benefit for less orange peel? I'm using UV and very slow activator.

Thanks,
Don

More practice on your technique is needed. I spray in 95 plus temps all the time using slow activator with good results. I bought some very slow to try on the next project to see if I can "lay it like glass" for the first time ever. LOL

2oz. of very slow reducer, per mixed qt, will help...mainly with extended flash time. Most is in your technique though. You have a pretty good gun there from what I hear

Thanks, guys.

I'm sure spraying in AZ you know all about the heat, Coronet! I was out in Phoenix a couple weeks ago - saw 118 one day. Rest of the week was down in the 107 - 108

I like the gun - it seems to do really well, and it is REALLY easy to clean (which I love!) I'll work on adjusting the nut behind the gun!
