Rust repair on hood inner: how to get epoxy in there?

So on these old BMW's they have air intakes for the passenger compartment located at the back of the hood near the cowl. They glue some thick high density foam over the stamped hood ducting to help finish the shape and direct the air out of the hood and into the cowl. Anyhow, found a rusty spot under the foam and cut it out and welded patch panels (inner only shown in pick, outer installed after) but I am unsure how to best get epoxy on the backside. I know I've got to protect the repair area with epoxy but how?

I'd take a stiff coat hanger or similar rod, bend it into a "J" shape and attach a wadded up piece of terry cloth to the end. Dunk it in your epoxy, insert it through the access holes and swab it on. A couple of coats like this and you should be good to go.
