Sanding Between Filler Applications

I had to do some repair on the rear qtr of my car some time back that required a little filler work. See photo. At the time, I did not have the end caps on the car. With end caps on, there are areas that will need to be built up with filler such that the transition between the rear qtr and end cap flows smoothly. This picture does not illustrate that well but it's there.

So, I need to clean and sand over the old filler and add new filler to blend the panel into the end cap. My question is, what grit paper should I sand the old filler with? I'm using Evercoat Rage Ultra. The TDS is not clear on this but I've read 80-180 grit. Seems like a huge difference to me, but I don't know anything. The filler on the rear qtr is a very thin layer and the build up for blend will be miniscal, .030 max.

Thanks!
