Sanding Universal clear question

I just finished shooting my car, 4 coats of Universal clear. I've been reading up here on recommend grits to sand the clear, 800/1000 to block then 1200, 1500, 3000. Do they mean P800, P1000, P1200, P1500, P3000 ? I have both the CAMI and "P" types, I seldom see a "P" in front of the grit numbers in the posts. I know they're close at the lower grits but a big difference at the finer ones.

If you are using finishing film from 3M, Eagle etc no need for this question. What are you using? Hopefully it’s finishing film.

almost everything these days is using the p scale even if its not marked with a p. i haven't seen anything in the cami scale in years....atleast that i am aware of. so yes, when we are talking about those grits its always referring to the p scale

All I have right now is sheets, 3M, Mirka, Indasa & SIA from a couple of closed shops. Most is from the early 2000's, 600 to 2500 grit with no "P", wasn't sure how far back they switched. I was planning to hand block a little orange peel and couple of runs with P1000 then finishing film for the flat areas & use sheet paper to do the edges so I don't burn through them. Just want to make sure to match the sheets with the same grit film.

Same till 220. Cami is corser in grit above 220 at the same number.
Once you get above p800,it's da time in reality.
Use scuff pads on the edges. Paper cuts thru just as easy as a DA.
