Scuffing Pads

Anyone have a suggestion for a good sanding pad to run around the underbody to scuff up epoxy for another coat? Doing it with paper is difficult do to the welds, overlaps, uneven surfaces. I bought a pack of those 80 harbor freight sponge pads for $5 and they actually are not half bad so I thought there may actually be something that is actually good.

360 grit is as course as they get by the looks of it... Barry typically wants 180 grit scuffing... do you use them to prep for another coat of epoxy?

Jim, 3M 7446 is a Scuff pad that is the equivalent of 150-180 grit. They are available at multiple online places. Last batch I got from Zoro.

i take these and use a worn out foam sanding sponge like the ones above or typically the grey 1/8" 3m grey foam ones as a backup pad for them. cut the grey pads in half and they are the same size. i can get these in all the tight area i can get a scotchbrite but these actually stay sharp and cut/level instead of scotchbrites which typically just dull and prep a surface. depends on what your looking for though i guess.

these are also the same as the eagle assilex sheets. brown is about 180 grit.

yes this works well. we do that quite often here when we need to get something dulled out for adhesion of the next coat
