Sealer color Choice?

In the next couple weeks i plan to be ready to paint my 69 Cougar. yellow is the color and i was wondering what color Sealer / epoxy you guys would recommend? i thought maybe white? or could i add a little of my yellow base to SPI white epoxy to kinda tint it a shade of yellow to help my color cover? i was planning on using spi epoxy as my sealer.

thanks in advance
Mike

How about Gold? What would be best choice? Sorry, not trying to hi-jack the thread, just curious.

I THINK most companies want light gray or a gold tinted sealer but each gold color could require a different undercoat, depending on the tints used to make the color but I'm not 100% up n the gold deal.

Thanks Barry! I was just thinking I'll use grey, it's on a old 1970 coronet hardtop with 62,000 miles.

Different sealer color question. I want to put a PPG base code 74788 (Cherry Red) on a 37 Ford tudor. A friend recommended I tint the sealer the same red before base and clear. I want to use all SPI product except the base color which SPI does not make. Can I tint SPI epoxy sealer red to match the base and what color epoxy would you start with? How would you recommend doing it.? Its a very dark, what I would call maroon red.
Thanks,

Thanks,

I would start with the red exopy and do a spray-out and see how it covers if it still needs to be darker then you can add black epoxy to it to darken it. It is easier and faster to darken a color then to lighten it. I would think the straight red epoxy will work fine IMO.
