Seam Sealer Question

I have my car in Black epoxy and im getting ready to seal and paint it. i replaced the roof skin on this car (welded in the drilled holes where i removed it from a doner car) after epoxying the car i dripped epoxy along the drip rails to seep in any openings missed. before i paint i need to seam seal this area. what type of seam sealer would you recommend and do i need to put this on before i seal the car? im using spi white epoxy reduced as my sealer. thanks mike

i use the evercoat maxim stuff. they have a version that is flowable. its an epoxy seam sealer, comes with mixing tips but you can use a regular caulking gun with it. no special gun needed. it flows out real smooth and kicks off in a few minutes. just watch on the pillars. it will like to run down then drip on the fender or door.put some masking paper there to catch it.

Definately use an epoxy or urethane seam sealer, stay away from the old solvent based sealers!

I like SEM #39777 High Build Self Leveling Seam Sealer, but it does require the 'double barrell' applicator gun and costs about $40 here. I dam up the ends of the pillars with masking tape but its just to keep it
from dripping out. After it cures it can be sanded. I epoxy the drip rails, apply seam sealer, sand or scuff to shape, apply another coat or two of epoxy and then sand that with the car before ready to paint, allowing plenty of cure time between each step of course (days). It states it is paintable in 30 minutes but I would not be comfortable with just a thin coat of pre-paint sealer before base.

SEM 39387 is less runny, but if it is really hot out it can start to kick before fully flowing out.
