Slick Sand @ tcp

It seems like there is a problem with the web site. The Rust Defender instructions is all that I can get, even if I try spanish, so look at the top on the pdf page to see what you are looking at.

"It has better adhesion and more strength because of its self-etching characteristics. The zinc phosphate additive and solvents in this product react during curing and become part of the total solid binder. This replaces the “corrosion protection system” and improves strength and sealing properties. This product provides an excellent barrier between cured body filler and topcoats"

the 57 vette i did was rode hard and put up wet , been worked over by pebo an ebo after jimmy bob billy got done with it. i used nothing but epoxy. takes a little more work and some more time but it does work.

Can I ask how many rounds of blocking you did when you did this car?

4 if i remember right. 80 - 100 - 180 - 320 to 600 on last coat. each coat was a wet double coat .

Epoxy is the ultimate primer for sure. If other companies are making money doing a polyester relabel maybe SPI could too? I think TCP Global might own this brand? and it might be a relabel, I tried it and it works fine: http://www.tcpglobal.com/KUS-KPP109-GL_2.html?sc=115&category=4977372#.VPpYeeEYFGk
There really are a lot to pick from if Evercoat's pricing gets too out of hand.

I've tried Sandy, I don't remember the particulars but I do remember thinking I liked slicksand better. I've also tried "all-u-need" also by clausen, I did not use it as they market it, I had epoxy under it, a 2k and a sealer over it. The all u need I felt was a decent spray poly though. It was very high in solids%, it built like crazy. It had the old school poly skin, but sanded nice once that was off and it did have quite the sanding contrast color wise which was also a bit of a bonus.

I'm currently using the 4:1 products from evercoat. Superbuild and finish sand.

I've only used one kit of superbuild, several kits of finish sand. I like the finish sand better than superbuild. Superbuild clogged paper a little bit, not bad, but a little bit. I felt I could build plenty high with finish sand, it will spray with a 1.8, sprays faster with a 2.2. The finish sand (and the superbuild) both cure with no sticky poly skin. That's really nice, paper goes a long ways, especially with the finish sand.

A kit of finish sand runs around a hundred bucks and you work with a gallon and a quart sprayable.

It's supposedly an epoxy/poly hybrid. Hopefully Barry can chime in on the chemistry of that idea... Hopefully this proves to be a decent product in the long run because I've been using it on the last few jobs and I really need them to hold up. lol!

You may check into a lkq keystone automotive for some primers fillers and other stuff. They rebadge top brand products with their own name on them. I was able to get rage body filler I think it was extreme and I only got it for 15 a gallon because it had their house label on it instead of evercoats. Same thing with their glazing putty it's ever coat and its a little cheaper. plus they usually run specials on their filler and glaze.
