Once in while I wish I had a small 1"-3" buffer. Any recommendations for the machine and wool pads to do something like this with the raised letters and curves?
I bought some of these and was impressed with how well they work. Like everything they sell they are not cheap. I found them considerably cheaper with a little googlin. Chemical Guys pad lube helps. They also sell a backing pad.

A Flex rotary polisher but a HF should last you years.what do you use to spin them?
I hate to recommend it but I love the Harbor Freight 3" air buffer and pad set up.
$30 and like you said the key is it's small size and ease of use. I have a bunch of different pads too. I only use foam pads on everything.

I bought this unit years ago and its one of the better purchases I have made off of amazon. I even purchased it with the attachment but it looks like its no longer offered like that. Regardless, its a must for motorcycle parts and smaller parts in general.

i tend to buy 3" wool pads to compound then orange or black foam for the polish step. basically just like my full size buff only smaller scale. lake country or buff n shine for the wool typically. i wont even bother recommending the buffer i use because its an astronomically priced dynabrade. excessive for just once in a while use
I have the same Milwaukee. Works well as I’m already invested in the platform. If I was doing any long term polishing with a 3” pad I too would use a different tool. For a 3 inch, I primarily use my Milwaukee. I bought some aftermarket batteries and it runs great. If I need some more power, I use a 3 in backing plate on my rotary.View attachment 31089
Find the Vanon batteries on Amazon. They last a long time. And, they're inexpensive.I have the same Milwaukee. Works well as I’m already invested in the platform. If I was doing any long term polishing with a 3” pad I too would use a different tool.
