This weekend there was a car show in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Dr, called the "Beverly Hills Concours de Elegance" this Jaguar was purchased for $150,000, then totally designed by Raymond Lowey who designed the original coke bottle and then the work began, to totally redo this car from the ground up,
this car as you can see was the feature of the show!

But wait, who the Hell in their right mind would put three coats of 2100 clear on a $350,000 car, being its SPI's lowest priced production clear???

Would they have been better served using Omni, Nason or Finish 1, after all they are made by the majors? LOL!!!

I personally would love to see some sun/weather tests with SPI vs the other brands. Just so I have some backing when I am speaking highly of the SPI clears.

I think not. I had to get used to it but the Production Clear is a nice product.

I've seen enough tests and they weren't pretty, age some of these products 3-4 years and it's a real eye opener. SPI clears stay really flexible and durable while the others end up being scratch magnets and brittle after they age.

That was just great, our lowest cost clear, is featured car.

Of course some bean counter at the major company right now, is saying how stupid we are to make a low end clear that will compete with their top end clear because of the cost to do that.

I love it!

Barry, wasn't it "just" 3 years ago or so that you said in the old SPI forum that most of the majors 2.1 VOC clears really sucked? You called it back then and maybe to this day that still holds true. I'm glad you saw an opportunity there with the 2.1 VOC stuff, you got to work formulating new products and went for it and now is paying off handsomely.

So in a way I'm not really surprised that they chose SPI, what I find strange is that they went for the less expensive clear for such a car lol.

This hits home for me! i use 2100 almost everyday have 2 gallons on my shelf at all times.

love the clear Personally,i have used it on several all overs and have no complaint!

Hey Barry that Finish 1 all over clear is Better, lol!!!.

Guys if any of U have been scared to use this clear(2100)it took me several gallons to get where i could spray it good and be happy with the end result, then i complained about the slow Act.not being slow enough for me.then they came out with the very slow Perfect for me and my conditions in Hot summer time.

WOW! They were really brave to put some bath tub clear over another brand of base, the interweb gurus say you have to use all one system or it will fail.

Maybe that painter didnt read the interweb! ROFLOL.

The shop that did this car uses the 4100, 5100 and 2100 on regular bases, so they knew what to expect and I told them the bath-tub was clean when I made the last batch! LOL

Yeah, but that bathtub liquor you make after your clear batch always tastes a little bit funny, but sure is some potent stuff. I don't know weather to blame the blurred vision on the liquor or isocyanates.

2 thumbs up !

I just sprayed some today on a nissan maxama. It's the only thing I use now if it's not the unversal. I love the stuff. Not real hip on how it buffs but if you can get a job out with almost no trash or spots that need buffed it looks awsum right out of the gun.
