SPI painters in Maryland

New to the forum…. Does anyone know if any quality painters in Maryland that are experienced with SPI products? I’m sold on the product based on forum reviews/pictures but can’t find a painter in the area who will use it.

I’ve heard Paintworks in Pottstown Pa uses SPI. Not too far from Maryland, depending where you are in MD exactly.

im just a hack occasional painter of our own junk lol. i have talked to a couple of local guys [near southern Del] and they had never herd of spi. i think its because they are likely set up with a local outfit and dont look else where. personally, i believe these products to be superior to things like napa and probably most of what gets used around here.

Yes, this is my feeling as well. Seems that most have “their brand” and are fearful to try something different.

Speaking as a person who does this for a living, it's not fear, exactly, at least for me. I'm in the business of guaranteeing results, which means I'm going to use my own proven processes and materials. My customers are my boss up to a point, but material selection is well beyond that point.

So do I think shops should be trying SPI? Yes, certainly. Does a random customer have a right to insist on it? No, never.

Understood and “Fearful” was probably the wrong word choice. Most of what I’ve found thus far is exactly as you’ve described. As long as the customers desires are understood upfront, I don’t see where that would create an issue. If a company doesn’t feel comfortable using a different product, they can’t be forced into it. Under any circumstance.

i am not a painter. but i am a thinker......some times an over thinker. from my limited experience and knowledge, SPI products make sense as products that i understand what they are exactly. or at least close enough for my purpose. i would venture to guess there are some painters that dont really think about what products are, they simply use what has been working. i think its different when your only doing your own stuff, different parameters and reasons. maybe that made sense........i do believe the big shops would save money switching to SPI.
