Spi Universal Clear over Epoxy

I was considering using single stage black on the flatbed portion of my truck. The truck is meadow green but the flatbed is going to be black. SPI Single Stage Black only comes in gallons which is way more than I need. Does anyone have any experience shooting SPI Black Epoxy with a SPI Universal Clear Coat? Wondering how it would hold up.

I did that to a gray truck bumper several years ago and it still looks fine. Of course that is nothing near to a scientific test, but it would not bother me to do it as long as a test panel is done first and you are happy with it. Supposedly the black epoxy has some UV resistance mixed into it, so with clear over it I would imagine it to be pretty durable.

I used black epoxy as a base for some stripes on a 442. Turned out excellent. Been 3 years and it still looks as good as the day shot it.

Sounds like it might be worth a try. The flatbed is serviceable, removeable headache. So not a big deal to get another coat of paint on it in pretty short order down the road.
