Spray Gun and Method Reccomendations

Have not sprayed since the days of my old Binks, and I picked up a Vaper HVLP with 1.7 tip for primer, can you guys point me in the right direction for baseline mixing and air pressures ? Also gonna pick up a base/clear gun, still up in the air between a Sharpe Finex 3000 1.4 or a Devilibis Finishline 4 1.3 with a Dekups system for 70 bucks more, any reccomendation between the 2 ? also looking for baseline setups on the 2 guns. Thanks in advance !

Make sure there is no internal strainer in the gun, back fluid all the way out 3-4 turns, 50% fan and some where between 20 and 30 Lbs at gun with trigger pulled, depending on your air system.

You mean like a filter or screen ? And hate to sound dumb but what do you mean by 50% fan, overlap ? Do my tip sizes sound good ? Does this go forboth guns ? Thanks

Unscrew cup on gun and look in gun and make sure no screen filter in there.
Fan on primer does not need to be wide open but you can, primer guns usually work best at 50-60% wide open.

Oh God that stupid hidden filter..... That just brought back one bad memory on a Harley tank and a cheaper new gun (used once before the tank) what a disaster (twice metallic specks in clear) until I figured out what the problem was. I still can't figure out why I didn't just use my best spraying gun instead of the new cheeper one, live and learn I guess.

So basically remove the filter from both my primer and bc/cc guns if they have one ?

While not a true professional like many on this site I do spray quite often and use the following technique to set up my spray guns.
First I remove the cursed filter everyone has warned you about and dismantle and thoroughly clean any new gun.
Next tape a piece of 16" wide masking paper on the booth wall about 24" long.
Back the fluid knob out while holding slight pressure on the trigger until you know it fully open and then continue holding slight pressure while turning the fluid knob in until the trigger starts to lift. I usually turn the knob in 1/2 turn from that point for initial setting.
Turn the fan knob in until it is closed and then back out about 3 1/2 turns.
Hook your air hose and regulator to the gun and pull the trigger full open, then adjust the air pressure at the gun. This varies per gun and tip size but 20 psi is good starting point for most.
With mixed paint in your gun hold it about 6" from the masking paper and pull the trigger full open for 1 full second. (I count 1/1000)
Look at the pattern and make adjustment to fan first. (recheck psi at gun with trigger pulled)
Shoot another 1 second burst. Evaluate the fan and the spray pattern. Should be consistently fine droplets throughout the pattern with no runs forming in the middle. If you have heavy droplets increase the air pressure.
Continue the process until your are happy with what your are seeing. Of course some adjustment will be necessary based on your spraying speed.
