I'm a new spi jobber only been doing this for a couple of months.
I have a potential new costumer that wants me to do a spray out.
Just wanted to how you jobbers did that.

Ive heard Barry mention spraying the material on photo paper

He is interested in primer and production clear. You still think just photo paper

Hmm possibly
Or just get a piece of sheetmeral fromthe hardware store and prep it like you would a cars panel
I think the photo paper is more ideal for colors and clears because the surface acts like a primer

Steve has a good idea. Get a 2'x2' piece of sheet metal from the local hardware store. Be sure to clean it well to get any left over oils off of it and then sand it with some 80 grit DA. epoxy, urethane, base and clear. You could epoxy the whole thing, then tape off 6" from one end, urethane everything else, then move over another 6" base coat, then clear over the base. You would have one panel to show everyone that would show the epoxy, urethane, base and clear. Seems like a reasonably cheap way to cover the products on a small scale effectively. If you wanted something more realistic, you can get repro fenders for some cars (honda's come to mind)for around $20 and do the same procedure. It would just be a bit bulkier to handle and move around. Just my thoughts

Here is my problem with this.
It will prove nothing and I have never heard of a request like this before.
If you have one of the top professionals on here do it, could his painter reproduce the results?
If I do it, his painter might think it looks like crap, see the point?
I would rather negotiate a quart kit and let his painter see how it handles.

My feeling, I would not take time to do this, its kind of like going in a shop that say ok, make me a price sheet for my cost on all your sand paper, clears, tape bodyfiller and I will look at it.
Its just a way to blow off the jobber that just walked in the door.

I totally agree here and may be guilty of doing similar things over the years...it's very hard to earn new business from established business
