SS Acrylic Urethane for DIY'er

One of my employees painted his red vintage beetle with PPG concept single stage. It covered beautifully and flowed nicely. It faded in 3 years in the sun. I'm not sure there is any real proof that the higher end single stage paints will not fade just as quickly as the cheaper ones especially the reds. The only single stage paints that have stood the test of time is Dupont Imron(orginal formula 5.0 voc) and Alumigrip single stage polyurethane used on aircraft. We have some over 20 years old that still shine like new money.

I ended up going with a Valspar 852 single stage white based on the recommendation of the jobber after he heard my requests. Just shot it the other day and i'm satisfied with it. I thought it layed down pretty easy although i still had a couple runs, but those were my fault. I am a bit upset though, after purchasing the paint i read that Barry had begun making a single stage white (again?). Would have much rather used all SPI products, always next time though.

Thanks for everyone's responses.
