What do you guys know about hooking two compressors together in order to increase CFM? I am kind of strapped right now and don't want to pop for a big compressor or even to get my garage wired with 240.

Although it's not ideal, I have done it before, and it will work. You will want to check the duty cycle of the compressors and make sure you aren't going to overwork one if it has a lower duty rating. If they are the same rating, then just adjust the pressure switches so that they both go on and off at the same time. If one has a lower duty rating, adjust it so it comes on later and/or goes off sooner so you aren't overworking it.

You will be fine as long as you regulate the output pressure of each compressor to the same psi of the lower output compressor BEFORE the 2 output lines are connected together, then regulate the psi again to your filters, etc. You should also install swing checks in each output line before the common manifold.

Don't worry to much about duty cycles, think of it this way, if you only had the one compressor you would be running it balls to the wall, so there isnt really much difference this way or that way.

The important part is each producing equal pressure into a common manifold. that is the simplest way to "balance" them.

I have seen many pressure switches that are not very adjustable on lower priced compressors.

example: regulate both compressors to 125 psi, connect into a common manifold then set 3rd regulator at desired working pressure .

this opinion is worth what you have paid for it, it is my opinion based on my experience working as a pipe fitter and millwright for the last 40 years.

I have a 30gal receiver tank that they will be pumping into and then I spray off that. The largest one pumps to 200 and the other to 135. I was going to just get a T and run them both into the 30gal.

I've found the adjusting the pressure switches can be time consuming. It's best to have someone working, using air, while you stand there and adjust the cut-in pressure.
