Technique for re-priming after blocking - Bare metal spots

Benny

I've taken my car down to bare metal with 80 grit on a DA. After priming a panel, and doing my filler work, I always end up with some bare metal spots. What do I need to do to make sure those spots are not too smooth for re-priming?

In other words, if I am blocking with 150, then it appears that the 80 grit scratches are basically gone from the bare metal spots, so there could be poor adhesion in those areas. Words of wisdom?

Thank you.

Priming over what you have with epoxy will work very well. Don't worry about small areas of 150 scratches on the metal. If you are talking real large areas, you could feel free to rough them up again with 80, but avoid digging at your filler or any paint featheredges.

I don't worry about it and have not had any adhesion failures.

Sorry for the slow response on this...been recovering from surgery.

Thanks for the relply and reassurance.
