Third Harley done. SPI UVC gives me time to set aside and buff later

before cut and buff (just sides). love the spi uv clear! it gives me time to come back and cut and buff. ill leave in sun for one day then leave in the garage until i can get to it and its still very easy to work with. still dialing in spray technique and buffing technique.

I think it buffs better if you let it cure up awhile, sometimes stuff sits for a week or more and it buffs great!

thats what ive been doing. got the porter cable buffer for the next project. buffed this one with a cheap harbor freight air polisher, orange css pad, menzerna intensive polish. worked a little too hard to get what i want. ill ask more in the other polishing threads...

3m three step, try it! I usually rub out bike parts by hand after I finish sand with 3000 and it really takes very little effort and they look better than if I use a mini-buffer.

I have some harley parts on the stands right now that should be done in a week, I'll post up some pics when done with the hand rub.

what brand 3000 sand paper and a link to the 3m 3 Step please? i just got some 3000 off ebay and am questioning the quality. i did hand rub some of the parts with a nice fiber waffle pad w menzerna and did realize i can put more muscle polishing more than i could safely press the orange css.

I too like the 3m system.
I haven't tried chemical guys though, Shine sure likes their stuff.
I don't mind paying a couple dollars a vehicle more for the 3M as I get great results with it.
The 3000 I use is 3M Trizact, after sanding with 3M 1000,1200,1500 grit sanding film.

you can sand by hand with the trizac pads, they cut and last a long time.
This is the compound, 1st step, you will be impressed: http://3mcollision.com/products/buffing-and-polishing/high-performance-compounds-polishes/3m-perfect-it-rubbing-compound.html

This is the 2nd step, a polish that will remove all swirls: http://3mcollision.com/products/buffing-and-polishing/high-performance-compounds-polishes/3m-perfect-it-machine-polish-06064.html

3rd step is a machine polish, considered unnecessarily by most but it leaves results that are definitely PERFECT: http://3mcollision.com/products/buffing-and-polishing/high-performance-compounds-polishes/3m-perfect-it-ultrafine-machine-polish-06068.html
