Tips for spraying a 93 Silverado grille

I have a 93 Silverado 454SS I have been working on. I have been using SPI epoxy and SPI SS black all the way through. In the next week or two I will be spraying the plastic pieces. The only thing that worries me is the grille. It is the OE 454SS waffle grille and I just don't know how to go about spraying it and getting good coverage without runs. I don't know how to post pics or I would... I'm sure most everyone knows the grill I am speaking of though. I just need some pointers! Maybe a good idea of where to begin or how to attack this thing?

I thought about possibly turning my gun down (fluid & fan) and spraying the waffle area first, do it from the front and back side for coverage. Let that flash and then do an overall with slightly reduced from normal fluid flow and a tighter fan. I plan to scuff and use 50% reduced black epoxy then shoot base. Maybe shoot the reduced epoxy with my 1.0 detail gun? I've talked to Barry about shooting the SS black with a small tip so I don't think I want to use the detail gun with the SS. Don't want to risk the possible polarity change and possible tint change.

If anyone could help me out and give me some pointers I'd greatly appreciate it!!!

Haven't even tried it yet so I may be over reacting, but in my book, knowledge is king!

I did a ss truck a few months ago. I had the same concerns.I used epoxy 1:1:1 as a sealer.I used bc cc.I hung the grille back side up and sprayed three coats from different angles with proper flash time between coats. I then flipped it over and repeated process on the front.I let it dry over night then hung it vertically and sprayed a med. wet coat of base to both sides. After an hour I sprayed three coats of clear.IMO if you get the flat part of the front slick the waffle area is not even noticeable when installed.I used my rp 3000 with the same adjustments as I always do. Good luck. I bet it will be fine.
