Too much primer?

Is there such thing as too may coats of primer? If so, how do I know when I'm getting there?

The hood on my mustang was hit in the front, kinda pushed it in. I hammered and dolly'ed, then epoxy, then filler, then many coats of 2K, most blocked off except in the low spots.

Then I realized I didn't raise the bent down front edge enough and the lip was getting thick. So I ground it all off back to bare steel, hammered a dolly'ed some more, then epoxy, then filler, then 2K.

Now where I ground off and started over there aren't that many coats. But I didn't strip the whole hood when redoing the front few inches, and around the area there are all the coats from both "fixes".

Plus, Since it's real hard to see the main hood peak body line in 2K, being that it is flat, I'd like to add a coat of unreduced epoxy onto the 2K so I can see if it's right in "shiny" black. Do I have anything to worry about as far as too many coats?

use guidecoat when sanding, sand one half of the hood at a time and you'll be able to see the center line and how straight it is. How many coats of 2K?

90% of paint problems are caused by excessive paint film thickness. 8-10 coats of primer is a disaster waiting to happen. it will eventually shrink and solvent pop. get it off and use a high build polyester.

Shine is right on IMO, everytime I've seen that much urethane primer used there was problems down the road. It will eventually stabilize long after the car has been painted but will show shrinkage and mapping from my experiences.
